China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC)said on July 12 that main retailers in Urumqi, Yili, Kashi and other cities in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have resumed business.

Photo taken on July 12, 2009 shows a bustling bazaar in Aksu, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The MOC said in a Web site statement that the supply of meat, vegetables and other daily necessities was abundant in Xinjiang, and their prices had fallen to the level before the July 5 riot in Urumqi.

The ministry said it had sent a working group to Xinjiang after the July 5 riot to help local governments to step up efforts on guaranteeing the market supply of meat, vegetables and other daily necessities, ease price hikes and regulate the market order.

A total number of 1,500 tonnes of vegetables was shipped to Urumqi city between July 6 and 11, according to the ministry.
